Clementine Was Right, Kidcaid, Gentlebeing, and Left On Read

On Thursday April 20th, The Community Center for the Performing Arts proudly welcomes Clementine Was Right with special guest Kidcaid, Gentlebeing, and Left On Read to the WOW Hall.

Clementine Was Right

Clementine Was Right is the songwriting project of poet and fiction writer Mike Young. Chronicling years of travels and uprootings, the music revs and spikes and sways through hook-smeared bootgaze and cosmic scoot, harmonizing and storytelling.

After releasing three books of poems and stories in the early 2010s (with praise from VICE, BOMB, The Believer, and others), Mike moved to New Mexico in 2016 and started this project with fifteen years of songs and a talented crew of fellow wanderers.

In September 2021, Clementine Was Right recorded their second LP, Can't Get Right With the Darkness, at Memphis Magnetic in Memphis, TN with Scott McEwen (Elvis Costello, Robert Plant, Hank Williams III, Rosie Flores). Gathering a large cast of collaborators from Arkansas to Asheville to Hawaii, the new record is both grizzlier and more anthemic, weeping and laughing while the fire jumps the river.

The band has been featured on Gimme Country, AltCountry.NL, Deeper Roots Radio, Puttin' on Airs in Memphis, and elsewhere. And the band has shared bills with Pearl Charles, Dave Dondero, Sadie Dupuis (of Speedy Ortiz), Nat Baldwin (of Dirty Projectors), and many others.

Thanks to national touring and a collaborative online presence, Clementine Was Right is building a dedicated community of listeners all over (65k Spotify streams, 1200 Spotify followers, 16k TikTok followers), heartbroken mutts swaying and singing along to stories about the fire of forgiveness, driving a Volvo to the doughnut store, garbage bag curtains, and distances you never learn to trust.

Kidcaid

Kidcaid is a Eugene power trio lead by front man Chris Boyd on guitar and vox and backed by Kira Gelbaugh on Bass and Daimyan Ayon on drums. Combining gritty,grungy, garage rock, emo, and a touch of indie pop, Kidcaid aims to have you screaming along to catchy choruses and headbanging to driving instrumentals.Formed by Chris and Daimyan in March of 2021, Kira joined the band shortly after Chris had her sit in on a few practices. Since then, Kidcaid has been rocking the houses, basements, backyards and stages of Eugene and other parts of Oregon with their unforgettable stage presence and huge sound. Kidcaid is an experience you won’t soon forget.

Left on Read

Left On Read formed in 2019, but took the Eugene music scene by storm in 2021. Stealing elements from punk, psychedelic, and emo rock Left On Read's live shows have been known to simultaneously spur cerebral tranquility and bodily aggression. While they formally released their first two singles, "big time" and "wild duck margaritas" in the past year, Left On Read has been inciting mosh pits at some of Eugene's most historical venues like Session's and John Henry's. All while regularly playing at venues across the PW's DIY scene.
