“The bus came by and I got on

That's when it all began

There was cowboy Neal

At the wheel of a bus to never-ever land”

Lyrics from the Grateful Dead’s 1968 song “The Other One” still ring true and warm the hearts of many to this very day.

Dust off your blacklight paint-splattered clothing and put some daisies in your hair because the bus is coming back into town.  The Community Center for the Performing Arts proudly welcomes Terrapin Flyer, the nationally touring Grateful Dead tribute band, back to The W.O.W. Hall.

Adopted by the Merry Pranksters here in Eugene and even dubbed “The Prankster Band” by Ken Kesey himself, Terrapin Flyer will be bringing back a staggering amount of history and fun to the community of Eugene; and a little bit of fun is exactly what everyone needs right now!

Terrapin Flyer is inviting everyone to come out and celebrate the flowers blooming as a part of its extensive Spring Tour.

It all started back in 1999, as the house band for the Sunday Grateful Dead Jam at the Boulevard Cafe in Chicago. The band has been touring nationally and headlining major festivals for the last 22 years with a revolving group of the best players in the extended family of Grateful Dead musicians.

Their Spring Tour will include guitarist Josh Olken who has gained acclaim as one of the top interpreters of Jerry Garcia's style of playing guitar. The band will also include veteran players Wavy Dave Burlingame on bass, Jon Reed on drums, Mike Cole on keyboards and Doug Hagman on rhythm guitar.

The ever-growing assortment of skilled musicians that are all a part of the band keep the performances funky and intriguing. It is a testament to the Grateful Dead’s music that so many different musicians can come into the band and keep that spirit viable while making the music alive and in the moment. That spirit is the spirit of renewal, growth, vision and joy through music and is still present with those who are keepers of the flame of the Grateful Dead.

Terrapin Flyer keeps the notion that the music still has plenty of life in it, and it is so improvisational in nature that each performance has room to reach new and exciting heights.

If you are lucky enough to attend a Terrapin Flyer show, you will be musically teleported back in time and have a tremendous, one-of-a-kind experience. In true Grateful Dead fashion, no two Terrapin Flyer shows will ever be the same, and you never know who might show up to jam at a show, but you can always count on a great time with some of the most recognized artists in the music community. If you love jam music, the Grateful Dead, the Merry Pranksters - or just a good old time - you do not want to miss this show!

The W.O.W. Hall will comply with all COVID-19 Guidelines issued by the State of Oregon and the CDC at the time of the event. This may entail limitations on capacity that might be lower than the number of tickets sold and/or event cancellation.
